5 Steps To Build A Relationship With God

Building deep and lasting relationships is human. Everyone desires to connect, feel loved, seen and valued. We crave relationships with our families, friends, community and God. We invest our whole lives into the relationships that matter.

When it comes to building that relationship with God, it isn’t always easy.

It takes intentionality to balance faith with a busy and demanding life. Finding time with God may feel like there is never enough time in your schedule.

So the question is, how can you build a relationship with God so you can bring your faith into your daily lifestyle?

You can start with these six steps:

 Make a decision 

It starts with a decision. Every relationship requires this big step. You make commitment. For it to last, you have to choose that relationship every day. While God wants nothing more than being part of your life, the ball is in your court to choose. (Josh 24:15)

Put God first 

Your mindset about the importance of God is in your life really matters. It determines how you use your time. Putting Him first in your day becomes a priority. This aligns with the order God originally intended ( Mathew 6:33). This mindset makes it clear how to to prioritize your day so you can work with greater ease.

Use your tools

As a Christian woman, you have a toolkit. Your christian toolkit has everything you need to learn, grow and succeed. It will help you build a relationship God. Get familiar with what’s in your kit, it includes prayer, scripture, christian music and your faith in God. Don’t limit your quiet time with God. Use planners, journals, pens, stickers and markers to add fun and creativity as you read, study and pray.

Create a consistent routine

You need to invest time and effort to build your relationship with God. It's not a one and done task. Time with God a daily practise, a pattern that is relentless and consistent. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-17).

Join a community 

Having a circle of like-minded believers will make a huge difference. Surround yourself with people who have the similar values and goals. It's a great way to learn how they make every day a reflection of their faith in God. Your community will keep you accountable and support you as you're building your own personal relationship with God.
